Already into the month of May, 5 months into the year… summer is quickly approaching and you will start to see lots of unfamiliar faces around the club with our visitors that come throughout the spring/summer months. Some may not be familiar with the gym, so if you see people looking for equipment or looking a little lost, feel free to offer them assistance!

For any students that are coming home for the summer break, we do offer a special student rate of 3 months for $69. Or our regular student monthly rate is only $25/month.

Our class schedule continues to get tailored to balance out the needs of our students and the availability of our instructors. Continue to monitor our schedule either on facebook, on the TV’s at the gym, at the front desk or on the website. You are still required to sign up ahead of time for all classes in order to ensure we do not overfill them. We appreciate your interest in our classes and we are thankful to all our instructors that provide such a great classroom experience.

The pain of discipline is nothing like the pain of disappointment.

Using weights to increase strength and muscle density is a key to improving your fitness. To reach your goals effectively and safely it is important to understand the differences between free weights and machines when it comes to muscle activation, range of motion, and overall effectiveness.

Free weights, such as barbells and dumbbells, allow for a greater range of motion as they are not restricted to a fixed path like weight machines. This means that muscles are utilized in a more natural way and can lead to greater muscle activation.

Keep in mind that free weights can also be more difficult to control and can put more strain on the joints if not used properly. This is especially true for beginners who may not have the proper form or technique.

Weight machines, on the other hand, offer a more controlled movement and can be easier to use for beginners. They also allow for targeted muscle activation as specific muscles can be isolated and worked on.

At the same time, weight machines can limit range of motion and may not activate muscles as effectively as free weights. They can also be less functional as they do not mimic natural movements like those used in everyday life.

Overall, both free weights and weight machines have their benefits and drawbacks. It is important to consider personal fitness goals and level of experience when choosing which to incorporate into a workout routine. In terms of muscle activation, range of motion, and overall effectiveness, both free weights and weight machines can be effective when used properly and with proper technique.
